Composition Exercise in Latin Prose Reading
|
Prose Interpretation - Prose Interpretation (also known as prose reading) is a non-memorization event in which competitors choose a published piece of work that they have cut to approximately 10 minutes in length. This piece is then read with feeling in competition.
Prose - Prose is writing distinguished from poetry by its greater variety of rhythm and its closer resemblance to the patterns of everyday speech. The word prose comes from the Latin prosa, meaning straightforward.
Composition (language) - The term Composition, in written language, refers to the process and study of creating written works or pieces of literature. This can be in the form of poetry, drama, essays or prose.
Jarcha - The jarcha is the final refrain of a series of verses which comprise a moajxa (muwashshah), a form of lyrical composition of Moorish Spain written partially in Arabic, Hebrew, or in Vulgar Latin. With examples dating back to the 11th century, this style of poetry is found on what is possibly the oldest document discovered written in Vulgar Latin.
