Picaresque novel - ... pícaro", for "rogue" or "rascal") is a popular style of novel that originated in Spain and flourished in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries and has continued to influence modern literature. The term denotes a subgenre of usually satiric prose fiction and depicts in realistic, often humorous detail the adventures of a roguish hero of low social degree living by his or her wits in a corrupt society.

Prose & Poetry - Prose & Poetry, or Prose-Poetry is a competitive speech event practiced by state high-school forensics or debating associations such as the Ohio High School Speech League, but not by the National Forensic League (NFL). The NFL does have consolation events in Prose interpretation and Poetry interpretation at the National Tournament, but these are only open to competitors who qualified in other events and were eliminated before the late elimination rounds.
